- Prohibition

188

Do not prevent an animal from eating during its work.

“You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out corn” Devarim 25: 4

It’s considered as one whether an ox or any domestic or untamed animal.

It is also the same if treading grain or any labour involving produce that grows in the soil.

Whether it was muzzled during the work or beforehand or if he restrained it with his voice.

Doing work while the animal is restrained is a violation of this prohibition.

Even if the animal belongs to a non-Jew he would be held accountable.

This applies in all places at all times for men and women.

Do not prevent an animal from eating during its work.
